Meeting the King of Rock and Roll
Mildred D. was a well-loved resident at The Villages at Historic Silvercrest. With plans to leave the campus to go into hospice care, the staff asked what they could do to create a special send off for her. Discovering Millie’s love for Elvis, Nurse Chasity Donaldson, was determined to get an impersonator in the building. When the day came for the performance her daughter, Julie, Silvercrest staff, and Red Hat Club friends were all there to see her dream come true. Before the show, Mildred’s family got her KFC, which is her favorite restaurant. Everyone, including all the other lady residents, were excited for Elvis to come, but when the time came, he was a no-show! Julie saved the day by starting an Elvis Karaoke jam session while staff came together and booked a more reliable impersonator for the next day. A moment well overdue came when Millie could finally sing along with Elvis to some of her favorite songs.
